Was Jessie Lemonier sick? His death explained

Jessie Lemonier

Jessie Lemonier, a former NFL linebacker, died in January 2023, days before his 26th birthday. “We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of former Detroit Lion Jessier Lemonier,” the Lions tweeted. “Jessie was a model teammate and wonderful young man who is gone far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”

Lemonier joined the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent. He moved to the Detroit Lions in October 2021, where he enjoyed his best NFL spell, registering 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Lemonier played briefly for the Arizona Cardinals before joining the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL.

As far as we can tell, Jessie Lemonier wasn’t sick

Reports state that Jessie Lemonier’s death was sudden and unexpected. Whenever someone dies suddenly these days, COVID-19 vaccine conspiracy theorists flood the internet, claiming coronavirus vaccines caused the death.

After news outlets reported Lemonier’s death, people who likely didn’t know the football player or whether he was vaccinated used his passing to push the anti-vax agenda. Newsweek quoted the following tweet: “The unfortunate death of #JessieLemonier is just another Vaccident.”

It appears that Jessie Lemonier’s death wasn’t caused by an illness or a vaccine: reports allege that Lemonier committed suicide. Often, when a celebrity dies of suicide, the family doesn’t release the cause of death.

The following tweet by Lemonier’s former teammate Breiden Feheko alerted people to the likelihood of a suicide death:

“My brother, man. We came into the league together, had to battle through everything to get where we are. You are always filled with life bro. I LOVE YOU BRO! Please check up on your people. PLEASE.”

The ‘check up on your people’ phrase suggests that Lemonier killed himself. The news implies that Lemonier was struggling mentally. @ProfanityNewz tweeted:

“So Jessie Lemonier commits suicide and instead of giving condolences we have people trying to push a bullshit narrative and it’s absolutely pathetic. Check in on your loved ones, mental health is no joke.”
