Alina Habba’s ethnicity — The lawyer’s Middle Eastern roots

Alina Habba

When Donald Trump is in trouble, he often turns to Alina Habba, a New Jersey attorney who met the former president at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. Alina isn’t involved in Trump’s upcoming trial in New York, but she is leading a legal effort to gather information about other investigations into the former reality television star.

Nevertheless, Alina has commented on Trump’s trial, telling Fox News’ Bret Baier that Trump ‘will be vindicated’. “When people are afraid of someone being successful and fixing the mess that is our country, they come after you,” Alina added

Alina Habba’s Arab family fled from Iraq to escape the persecution of Christian Arabs

Alina Habba was born on 25th March 1984 and identifies as Arab American. Her parents fled from Iraq in the early 1980s to escape the persecution of Catholic Arabs. Alina is a staunch Catholic Arab who describes herself as ‘very religious’.

Saad F. Habba, Alina’s father, is a celebrated gastroenterologist credited with identifying Habba Syndrome, a medical condition that links chronic diarrhea to gallbladder dysfunction.

The discovery and Saab’s charitable works have earned recognition and several accolades: the Queen of England appointed Saad an Officer of Royal Order; the Irish government granted him a coat of arms; the Catholic Church awarded him the Cross of Commander. Saab’s website reads:

“He also prides himself on giving back to the New Jersey community and was honored to receive an official citation by then-New Jersey Senate President DiFrancesco and recognized by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie for his contributions to medicine in the state.”

Alina allegedly referred to herself as an ‘fucking minority’ during interactions with a former employee

In mid-2022, Alina was accused of racism by Na’syia Drayton, a former employee. Drayton filed a discrimination lawsuit against Habba and her firm, Habba Madio & Associates, alleging that Alina referred to New York’s Attorney General Letitia James as a ‘Black bitch’.

The lawsuit alleged that Alina repeatedly used the n-word while blasting hip-hop music in her office. In audio tapes attached by Drayton’s attorneys, Alina and her partner, Michael Madaio, reportedly sang along to hip-hop songs filled with the racial slur.

Drayton’s suit said Alina called Letitia James a ‘Black bitch’ after losing a court:

“When Defendant Alina Habba learned that she lost her matter, nd that the Judge rejected her legal argument, Defendant Alina Habba emerged irate from her office, (where she and Defendant Michael Madaio were meeting) and shouted, ‘I HATE THAT BLACK BITCH!'”

Drayton, who is Black, claimed she was discriminated against and racially harassed. She felt ‘appalled’ and ‘astonished’ by Alina’s alleged tirade. “Na’syia was so shocked that her supervisor would say that, and feel comfortable saying that around her,” Jaqueline Tillman, Drayton’s attorney, told Business Insider

The alleged abuse triggered Drayton’s resignation. Drayton claimed she’d voiced her concerns about Alina’s behavior, but Alina dismissed them. Alina allegedly referred to Drayton as ‘ungrateful’ and ‘hyper-sensitive’.

“I am a fucking minority myself!” Alina allegedly told Drayton. “I’m not white. I used to be bullied because I am Arab.” Alina denied the claims in Drayton’s suit, saying:

“Na’syia is someone we love and care about and have for years. Na’syia had never made a single complaint to anyone until she had decided to quit and ask for an exorbitant amount of money in return. I am disappointed by this lawsuit and the allegations which are simply not true.”
